The Sani Abubakar Darman Stadium was filled to capacity on Saturday as over 50,000 Kano residents turned out to welcome Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso back to his home state for the campaign's first major northern rally.
Supporters dressed in the signature red caps of the Kwankwasiyya movement flooded the streets hours before the event began, with overflow crowds watching on screens outside the stadium.
Kwankwaso outlined his education and infrastructure agenda for the North, promising to double federal allocations to primary schools and complete the Kano-Kaduna rail link within his first term.
